Turning fan energy into a live experience at the scale of the city.

For Fête de la Musique, we created Fan de la Musique: a free, large-scale event designed to turn fan energy into a live experience at the scale of the city. Built around Spotify’s fan-first vision, the project placed the audience at the center of the night. From concept, artistic direction and scenography to event production, influence and content production, Yard developed an experience designed to feel fully immersive, fully public and unmistakably Spotify.

A night in motion
To stay true to the spirit of Fête de la Musique, the night was built primarily around DJ sets and live performances at Place de la Bastille. The format was designed to keep the event in motion throughout the night, while also showing the artists as music fans themselves.

Putting fans in control
At the heart of the concept was fan control: throughout the DJ sets, the crowd could scan a QR code displayed on stage, access a dedicated voting page, and choose the next track. Fans could also trigger pull-up moments live, giving the audience real-time influence over the experience and turning collective choice into part of the show itself.

City-scale impact
This vision came to life through a massive elevated stage conceived to extend the experience beyond the official perimeter. With free tickets sold out in 40min, more than 4,800 attendees on site and up to 10k people gathered outside at peak moments, Fan de la Musique became a strong expression of what a free, fan-led and city-scale Spotify event can be.
